TECHNICAL CENTER

The Arkansas Northeastern College Technical Center is a workforce education center that offers both high school and college credit in career and technical programs to all high school students in Mississippi County, Arkansas.  The Technical Center is housed in the ANC Center for Allied Technologies in Blytheville, and provides students with hands-on training in career and technical fields.  Our programs of study teach marketable job skills and offer industry certifications, as well as college credit towards Certificates of Proficiency, Technical Certificates, or an Associate's Degree from ANC.  Services are offered at NO COST to the students.  Books, tuition and fees are provided through the Tech Center and funded by the Office of Skills Development.

CALENDAR AND CLASS TIMES

Students should follow their home school calendar, including holidays and breaks unless otherwise indicated by the Technical Center Director.  Classes at the Technical Center are divided into three sections throughout the day.  Class times are as follows:

First Block:  8:20am - 9:55am  1-3 Periods

Second Block:  10:05am - 11:40am  3-5 Periods

Third Block:  1:05pm - 2:45pm

COLLEGE CREDIT

Each of the programs at the Tech Center offers students the opportunity to earn college credit from Arkansas Northeastern College at no cost to them.  The number of credit hours may vary within each program.  Students electing to enroll for college credit will have their grades and credit hours recorded on an ANC transcript.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

SKILLSUSA

Students attending the Technical Center are eligible to join SkillsUSA, which is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  SkillsUSA provides education programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation's classrooms.  The ANC Technical Center sends students annually to compete in their area of study in the Arkansas SkillsUSA Competition, all expenses paid.  State winners go on to compete nationally; national winners go on to compete internationally.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

Students may apply to join the Tech Center Student Leadership Team, which offers them the opportunity to have input in Technical Center recruitment, initiatives, policies and procedures.  Leadership Team members are given placements in Job Shadow opportunities.

JOB SHADOWS

The Technical Center partners with the ANC Career Coaches to place students in Job Shadow opportunities, where they can learn about career options in their program of student firsthand.  Priority placements are given to Tech Center Leadership Team, but other students may be allowed to participate.

ROBOTICS TEAM

Join the ANC Tech Center Robotics Team!  At the ANC Tech Center, we're not just about books and lectures — we're about hands-on learning and real-world challenges.  That's why we're proud to offer our students the unique opportunity to become part of the ANC Tech Center Robotics Team.  This program is open to all students enrolled at the Tech Center, providing a platform for those interested in applying their technical skills in a competitive environment.

Our robotics team doesn't just participate; we compete to win!  Engaging in VEX Robotics competitions throughout the state, our team has won awards and recognition for its innovation, teamwork, and engineering skills.  Being part of this team allows students to dive deep into the world of robotics, coding, and mechanical engineering, applying what they've learned in class to build robots that win.

ADMISSIONS POLICY

Prospective students in grades 10-12 are eligible to enroll at the Technical Center.  All students are required to complete an admissions application and must submit a signed student/parent contract.  In programs of study that are filled over capacity, students may be asked to provide attendance records and/or academic records.

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CIS)

The CIS program is designed for the student who is interested in a career in computer information systems.  The program includes a broad background of courses that will prepare the student for high paying jobs.  Coursework will apply towards the Certificate of Proficiency or Technical Certificate in Computer Information Systems, as well as the Associate's Degree in CIS at Arkansas Northeastern College.

  • Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials - 1 High School Credit, 4 College Credit Hours

  • Introduction to Cybersecurity - 1 High School Credit, 3 College Credit Hours

  • Web Design - 1 High School Credit, 3 College Credit Hours

  • Server Administration - 1 High School Credit, 3 College Credit Hours

  • Database Management - 1 High School Credit, 4 College Credit Hours

  • Computer Applications - 1 High School Credit, 3 College Credit Hours

TECHNICAL CENTER PROGRAMS

CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

The Construction Technology Program is designed to prepare students to be versatile members of a construction team.  Students will learn the basics of construction safety, math, and power and hand tools.  Students will also develop skills in rigging techniques and the safe assembly and use of scaffolding.  Additional skills will include the operation and maintenance of light construction equipment used on the construction site including the skid steer, aerial lift, forklift, scissor lift, generators, compressors, and compactors.  Advanced returning students will develop skills in site layout, form setting and placement, rebar layout and placement, and the pouring and finishing of concrete.  College credits earned in this program transfer into ANC's Construction Technology Certificate of Proficiency.

HEALTH SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY (MEDICAL PROFESSIONS)

The Health Science Technology program provides students with core skills and knowledge of medical professions, medical terminology, and common procedures used in multiple healthcare settings.  Students who complete all four courses in this program of study will be better prepared to enter any ANC certificate or degree programs offered by the Allied Health Division.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant - 1 High School Credit

  • Medical Terminology - 1 High School Credit, 1 College Credit Hour

  • Foundations of Healthcare - 1 High School Credit

  • Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology - 1 High School Credit

INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES

This program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing companies.  The coursework provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of industrial technologies, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and robotics systems.  Students will learn about advanced manufacturing production processes, equipment, design and operation.  The large number of industrial and manufacturing employers in our region makes this a skill set that is in high demand.  College credits earned in this program transfer into ANC's Advanced Manufacturing, General Industrial Technologies, and Industrial Electrical Systems Certificates of Proficiency, as well as the Associate's Degree in Steel Industry Technology.

  • Manufacturing Power and Equipment Systems - 1 High School Credit, 3 College Credit Hours

WELDING TECHNOLOGY

Welding is designed for students wishing to secure marketable welding skills.  Through an organized progression of steps, the student builds ability with the different welding processes offered.  Progression is competency based.  Students will achieve different levels of expertise determined by their interest, aptitude, and participation in class.  Coursework will apply towards a Technical Certificate or an AAS in Welding at Arkansas Northeastern College.

  • Oxygen/Acetylene and Safety Orientation - 0.5 High School Credit, 1 College Credit Hour

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding Partial Joint Penetration - 1 High School Credit, 4 College Credit Hours

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding Complete Joint Penetration - 1 High School Credit, 4 College Credit Hours

  • Gas Metal Arc Welding - 1 High School Credit, 4 College Credit Hours
